Massachusetts Gaming Commission Chairman Stephen Crosby is asking a federal judge to toss out a lawsuit by Caesars Entertainment.
In a court filing Crosby rejected claims that he treated Caesar’s unfairly in its failed bid to compete for a casino license in the greater Boston area. He said the lawsuit’s allegations are inflammatory, but groundless. The suit questions Crosby’s impartiality in the casino licensing process because of an old business relationship with a co-owner of land in Everett, where Wynn Resorts wants to build a casino. Crosby has said the issue was resolved to the satisfaction of the state ethics commission..
Caesar’s withdrew in October from the competition for the lone casino license in eastern Massachusetts after concerns were raised in a background investigation by commission staffers.
