VT Private School In Lyndon To Have Free Bus

Wikimedia Commons/Public Domain

The private Vermont high school that serves children in the Lyndonville area is eliminating a charge for its bus service for out-of-town students.

Starting in August, the private high school that serves many communities in the Northeast Kingdom will no longer charge the fee that now varies depending on the length of the trip.

Lyndon Institute says the decision not to charge for the bus service is comparable to the Institute's recent decision to include all students in a local-foods lunch program at no cost to their families.

Headmaster Rick Hilton says the school wants to focus on improving the health and safety of each student.

About 60 students use the bus service that goes as far west as the Champlain Islands and as far east as Lunenburg.
