Vermont health care officials are urging people who have signed up for health insurance through the Vermont Health Connect website to pay their bills as soon as possible to ensure they get coverage by Jan. 1.
Commissioner Mark Larson said Monday that about 20,000 people have selected plans through Vermont Health Connect.
Tuesday is the deadline for people to select a plan so they get coverage with a subsidy that takes effect Jan. 1.
People who apply after Tuesday can still get insurance coverage for Jan 1, but without subsidies. For those who are eligible, the subsidies would become available on Feb. 1.
Larson says the staff will work hard to ensure Vermonters' transition is as smooth as possible.
He's also urging people to fill prescriptions before Jan. 1.
