The head of the largest private employer in western Massachusetts, Baystate Health, has announced plans to step down
Baystate Health president and CEO Mark Tolosky will step aside in six months to be succeeded by Dr. Mark Keroack, the current chief operating officer for the health care network. Tolosky, who has run Baystate for a decade said a plan is in place to assure a smooth transition.
"The kind of environment we have for our staff will continue, and the commitments to our various communities and all the things we do. I don't think people will see a major redirection on any of those fronts"
Under Tolosky Baystate grew into a regional powerhouse in the healthcare industry with 10,000 employees. Springfield’s North Main Street was transformed into a “Medical Mile” with surgical centers and clinics, anchored by the flagship hospital where a $300 million expansion was completed last year.
