Attorney General Martha Coakley’s barnstorming tour to announce her run for governor will come to western Massachusetts today.
Coakley”s campaign schedule has her greeting the lunch crowd at Red Rose Pizzeria in Springfield’s South End. She has stops later in the afternoon in Pittsfield and North Adams. Coakley entered the Democratic field for Massachusetts Governor with a video announcement stressing job creation and education.
Coakley is the perceived front-runner by virtue of her high name recognition and favorable job approval ratings in public opinion polls. But she carries the baggage of her loss to Republican Scott Brown in the 2010 special Senate election that left many Democratic activists bitter.
