Vermont's Chittenden County Transportation Authority and drivers are at an impasse over contract negotiations.
Tony St. Hilaire, a spokesman for the Teamsters Local 597 Union, said one of the drivers' complaints is the amount of time they have to remain on call between shifts. He tells Vermont Public Radio some drivers work during morning and evening rush hours, but are otherwise on standby during the day and aren't paid for that.
Negotiations have been going on for two months.
He said the parties would choose an outside consultant to go over both sides' proposals and try to find common ground.
St. Hilaire said if no agreement is reached, the drivers may strike.
But Bill Watterson, general manager of CCTA, said speculation about a possible strike is premature.
