Brown Says No To 2014 Governor's Race

WAMC

Former Massachusetts Republican Senator Scott Brown has closed the door on a run for governor in 2014.

Brown made his decision known Wednesday night on WBZ Radio’s “Nightside With Dan Rea” program.

Brown, who was elected to the Senate in 2010, then lost his re-election bid to Elizabeth Warren, said he wants to fulfill his commitments to the law firm where he works and  to Fox News where he is a paid commentator. But he did not rule out a run for office in the future.  No Republican has announced for Governor in Massachusetts, but the 2010 GOP nominee, Charles Baker, is widely expected to run.  Five Democrats are currently campaigning to succeed Gov. Deval Patrick who is not seeking a third term.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
