Man Charged With Boston Murder Of Wilbraham Native

Authorities in Boston have announced a suspect is being charged with the murder of a young woman, whose violent death impacted people across the state.

A 28 year old Boston man with a lengthy criminal record has been charged with the murder of 24 year old Amy Lord, a native of Wilbraham ,Massachusetts.  She was abducted as she left her South Boston apartment, beaten, forced to withdraw money from several ATMs, and then fatally stabbed.   Suffolk County D.A. Dan Conley said Edwin Alemany , who is in custody for assaulting two other women ,has been charged  with Lord’s murder.

The murder prompted South Boston neighborhood meetings  about women’s  self-defense. A  bill was filled in the legislature  to permit over-the-count sales of defensive sprays.   More than 800 mourners attended Lord’s funeral in Wilbraham.
