2014 Gubernatorial Hopefuls To Address Democratic Convention

Democrats in Massachusetts should get an early look the potential field of candidates for governor Saturday at the annual party convention.

Steven  Grossman, the current state treasurer will announce his widely expected run for governor at the gathering of Democratic activists in Lowell. The convention will also hear from another potential candidate, Attorney General Martha Coakley.  Three lesser known Democrats have announced their candidacies,  physician Donald Berwick, life sciences company executive Joseph Avellone, and Cape Cod State Senator Dan Wolf. Democratic Governor Deval Patrick is not running for a third term in 2014.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
