The state of Vermont is planning to help communities in Chittenden, Lamoille and Essex counties hit by severe storms apply for federal assistance to help pay for repairs.
Officials from the Vermont Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security are going to host a meeting for local officials on June 27 at the Founders School in the town of Essex where they will outline procedures to apply for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
If approved, FEMA would reimburse up to 75 percent of eligible recovery costs.
Between May 22 and 26 a number of Vermont communities were hit by severe storms. Last week President Barack Obama declared the three counties eligible to receive federal disaster assistance.
Representatives of any community seeking assistance must attend the June 27 meeting.
