NY Man Released After DNA Tests Is Due in Vermont Court

A suburban New York man, released from a life-without-parole sentence after new DNA tests cast doubt on his conviction for killing his wife in a Vermont condominium almost two decades ago, is due to be arraigned again in the killing.

John Grega is scheduled to appear in court Thursday in Brattleboro on a charge of aggravated murder for the September 1994 death of his wife Christine Grega, who was killed in a Dover condominium where the couple and their young son were vacationing.

She had been beaten, sexually assaulted and strangled.

John Grega's 1995 conviction was vacated last summer after new tests found DNA of an unknown male in samples taken after Christine Grega's death.

John Grega has been living at his parents' home in Lake Grove, Long Island.
