A section of railway in Berkshire County has been reopened after a partial train derailment over the weekend.
Repairs were completed by Monday evening on a rail line owned by the Housatonic Rail Road.
Four cars had derailed in Lee shortly after midnight on Friday. According to railroad officials nobody was injured in the crash. The cause of the derailment is unknown.
The Berkshire Eagle reports that Housatonic spokesman Colin Pease said two cars carrying construction debris had fallen over an embankment. After the cars were removed from the track, Pease said they may sold for scrap.
Recently, a freight train derailment along a New York to Boston corridor forced Amtrak to detour passenger trains headed to Boston from New Haven to Springfield. The service was restored Sunday afternoon.
