A Berkshire town has hired a private agency to investigate its police department, following a mutiny by its unionized officers, and suspension of its chief.
The Berkshire Eagle reports that the Select Board of the Berkshire town of Egremont voted earlier this week to hire Plymouth-based Pomeroy Resources, Inc. to conduct a full investigation of the town police department.
In late February, Chief Reena Bucknell was placed on administrative by the select board in reaction to a mutiny by the town’s unionized officers.
Town Administrator Mary Brazie told the Eagle she expects the investigation to wrap up in three weeks.
Last November, the police Department of the Berkshire town of Lee was investigated by the FBI and a State Police Detective Unit at the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.
