A report issued Monday by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation says the state needs to spend $13 billion over the next ten years on transportation.
Governor Deval Patrick endorsed the plan , calling it “ clear-eyed, non-partisan and fact based.” He said the MassDOT plan would keep the current transportation system operating and pay for highway and bridge repairs, public transit improvements and passenger rail expansions.
The MassDOT report put out a menu of ways to pay for the plan. Governor Patrick said he would reveal his preferences during Wednesday’s State of the Commonwealth address.
