A Vermont Superior Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit by a school district against a parent critical of some school decisions who had filed a formal request for documents about why he was being barred from school grounds.
In a decision dated Tuesday, Rutland County Superior Court Judge William Cohen said that allowing the Rutland-Addison Supervisory Union to proceed with the case against Marcel Cyr of Benson, would "subvert the statutory framework" of the state's Public Records Act.
Earlier this year the district sent Cyr a no-trespass order barring him from school board meetings or setting foot on school property.
The lawyer for the school district says the district will turn over to a critic an unsolicited letter from a mental health professional that questioned Cyr's mental state and warned he could pose a threat to school officials.

of Vermont helped represent Cyr in the proceedings.
