The National Weather Service has confirmed tornadoes hit in Orange County, New York and New Haven County, Connecticut on Thursday.

The National Weather Service confirms a tornado in Montgomery that likely touched down on the northwest side of the Orange County Airport near the Wallkill River. The tornado was likely responsible for tree damage at the intersection of Route 211 and Canning Road as well as minor structural damage to two buildings at the airport. A temporary meteorological station had been installed for this weekend’s air show, and it measured wind gusts up to 82 miles per hour before communications went out. The tornado then moved east to the village and ended at Old Neelytown Road. In Connecticut, the National Weather Service says a strong EF1 tornado, with maximum wind speeds of 110 miles-per-hour, tracked southeast from Bethany to North Haven.
