Westchester County Legislators Want To See Another Absentee Ballot Option

wikipedia.org

Westchester County legislators are urging New York state lawmakers to allow an additional option for casting absentee ballots in the November election. They cite concerns about COVID-19 as the reason.

All 16 Westchester County legislators have signed a letter addressed to state lawmakers who represent the county, asking them to vote in support of a bill that would authorize boards of elections to establish absentee ballot drop-off locations. Setting up drop-boxes was one of the recommendations for improving voting this fall included in an August report from the Board of Legislators' Election Information Gathering Task Force. Manhattan Democrats Richard Gottfried and Brad Hoylman sponsor the bill in the Assembly and Senate, respectively. Hudson Valley Senators David Carlucci, Shelley Mayer, Jen Metzger and James Skoufis are among the co-sponsors.
