The Rockland County Health Department is alerting residents of potential coronavirus exposure in the East Ramapo School District. As of Tuesday afternoon, county officials say Rockland has six positive cases of COVID-19.
Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert say all the cases are within the Town of Ramapo. Dr. Ruppert says three of the cases are students from the East Ramapo Central School District who attended Hempstead Elementary, Pomona Middle School and Ramapo High School. She is recommending that these schools close for two weeks from the date of potential exposure. Such a plan would close the high school until March 19 and the other two schools until March 21. Anyone who visited the schools on the exposure dates earlier in March must quarantine themselves as a precaution.
