Women's Marches Set For D.C., NYC And Beyond

The Women’s March on Washington takes place Saturday, and there are sister marches and events throughout the U.S. as well as across the globe. As WAMC’s Allison Dunne tells us, there are some scheduled in the Hudson Valley.

Southern Dutchess Resist! is holding a rally at 10 in Beacon’s Polhill Park. Across the river in Orange County, there is a women’s march in Port Jervis that begins at 12:15 after speakers address the crowd at 11:45. First, though, at 10, there is a CommUNITY, emphasis on unity, Fair, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. The Women’s March on Woodstock kicks off at 11. Participants include newly elected Ulster County Comptroller March Gallagher; Democratic state Senate candidate Michelle Hinchey; award-winning Native American Women's Drum Group - Spirit of Thunderheart; and activist brass marching band Tin Horn Uprising.
