NRC To Hold Annual Public Meeting On Indian Point June 20

WAMC, Allison Dunne

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is holding its annual public meeting on the Indian Point nuclear power plant Thursday night.

The NRC will be in Westchester County to discuss the 2018 safety performance of the Buchanan-based plant. An NRC spokesman says all inspection findings and performance indicators were of very low safety significance, or green. Meeting-goers expect to hear about plans for the decommissioning of Indian Point. Unit 2 and Unit 3 are scheduled to shut down by April 30, 2020 and April 30, 2021, respectively. Entergy has agreed to a post-shutdown sale of Indian Point to a subsidiary of Holtec International. The NRC meeting is from 7-to-9 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel on South Broadway in Tarrytown.
