Marist College President Resigns
The president of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, announced his resignation Wednesday, effective immediately. His predecessor is coming back to the helm as interim president.
David Yellen’s departure comes after he joined Marist as president in 2016. Julia Fishman is Marist spokeswoman.
“My understanding is that this was a personal decision for President Yellen,” Fishman says.
After a sabbatical, Yellen will pursue other leadership positions in higher education. The college’s Board of Trustees named President Emeritus and Professor of Public Policy Dr, Dennis Murray as interim president. Murray was one of the longest-serving college or university presidents in the United States when he retired in 2016 after a 37-year tenure at Marist. He oversees the work of the Raymond A. Rich Institute for Leadership Development at the college.
