Activists Call On Rep. Delgado To Support Democracy Reform

Rep. Antonio Delgado

On the first day of the new Congress, activist groups in New York’s 19th congressional district will hold a rally to reform democracy. It comes as the House is expected to vote on a funding bill to end the partial federal government shutdown.

IndivisibleNY19 and allied groups will be holding their first public rally of the year calling for Democratic Congressman-Elect Antonio Delgado to support  a democracy reform bill that Democrats are expected to introduce that includes campaign finance and ethics reform. They’ll also call for a clean Continuing Resolution to end the partial shutdown without any funding for a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico. The noontime rally in Kingston is part of the Indivisible movement’s “Whose House? Our House!” national day of action. Meantime, Delgado, who defeated freshman incumbent Republican John Faso, was slated to hold a call with reporters in the morning before he is sworn in.
