The Supreme Court on Monday struck down a federal law that bans sports betting in most states, giving states the go-ahead to legalize such gambling. And a casino in Sullivan County stands ready to benefit.
Resorts World Catskills is one of the few venues in New York that can be authorized to host sports betting. That’s according to Resorts World Catskills Executive Vice President Charles Degliomini. He says, “It is our hope that New York State will be ready for New Yorkers to place legal sports bets in time for the baseball World Series, or much sooner.” Republican state Senator John Bonacic, chair of the Racing, Gaming and Wagering Committee, introduced enabling legislation in March and says he is confident a bill can be ready for the governor’s signature by the end of the session in June.
