Westchester To Honor 9/11 First Responders During Ceremony

The Rising

Several ceremonies marking the 16th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks have been held Monday in the Hudson Valley and will continue this evening, including in Westchester County.

Westchester County’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony begins at 7 p.m. at “The Rising” at Kensico Dam in Valhalla. County Executive Rob Astorino says this year’s twilight ceremony also will honor first responders who have died from 9/11 related illnesses. The candlelight ceremony follows “9/11 Day: Serve + Remember,” which provides a number of volunteer opportunities to support 40 local nonprofit organizations and causes. This year’s theme is “Service. Empathy. Unity.”
