A small group of pizzerias in Dutchess County, New York, will pay $50,000 to settle a discrimination suit. That’s according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which announced the settlement.

The federal agency says it brought the suit, alleging that Antonella’s Restaurant & Pizzeria, with locations in Wappingers Falls, Fishkill and Hyde Park, discriminated against Hispanic employees by subjecting them to name calling and slurs and creating a hostile work environment. The EEOC also alleged that Antonella’s unlawfully demanded that the workers speak only English without a business reason for such a requirement. In addition to paying $50,000, the consent decree settling the suit provides for Antonella’s to institute policies to prevent future discrimination.
