The wife of former Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes has sold her two Putnam County newspapers.

Owner and publisher of the Putnam County Courier and the Putnam County News & Recorder Elizabeth Ailes says she has sold both newspapers. According to an online article in the Courier (and PCNR), the sale is to editor-in-chief and associate publisher Douglas Cunningham. Cunningham is a former Times Herald-Record editor. Ailes owned the PCNR for eight years and the Courier for seven.

The sale of the weeklies comes at the end of the PCNR’s 150th anniversary year and the Courier’s 175th. The building on Main Street in Cold Spring that houses the papers is on the market. Roger Ailes resigned from Fox News over the summer amid sexual harassment claims against him.
