Arlington Fire Officials Agree To Restore A Flag

The fire truck flag controversy in the Town of Poughkeepsie appears to continue among the public, even though fire officials have reached an agreement.

Representatives from the Arlington Fire District and Arlington Professional Fire Fighters union met Thursday to discuss the placement of the American Flag on the district’s fire trucks. They agreed to install a flag on one of the fire trucks and continue to work together to develop a standard and protocol. Community members are weighing in on social media, saying one is not enough and that all three should be restored. The Board of Fire Commissioners issued a directive earlier this week to remove the flags from three fire trucks. Arlington Fire Chief Tory Gallante did so but said he and his department were upset about the order. The fire commissioner chairman citied liability and safety as reasons.
