U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter is planning to visit the U.S. Military Academy to meet with cadets and discuss the challenges the Army's future leaders will face.

Academy officials say Carter will be at West Point on Wednesday, when he'll observe cadets working in a laboratory, receive briefings from staff and faculty and participate in a "fireside chat" moderated by two cadets. The talk in Eisenhower Hall scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. will be followed by a few questions from the Corps of Cadets.
