A Saturday evening explosion and fire at the Indian Point nuclear power plant in Buchanan, 40 miles north of New York City,  touched off a small panic, WABC tv reporting an on site fire brigade put out a blaze at the facility; WCBS tv reporting a transformer blew up. Indian point officials say they safely shut down and neither the public nor employees are in any danger.
