This summer marks an historic season for the annual Bard SummerScape festival, when eight weeks of music, opera, theater, dance, film, and cabaret will turn for the first time to Latin America. WAMC’s Hudson Valley Bureau Chief Allison Dunne has a preview of the festival that takes place at the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts and other venues on Bard College’s Hudson River campus.

Christopher Gibbs is co-artistic director of the Bard Music Festival, which marks its 26th year, presenting “Chávez and His World,” a series of orchestral, choral, and chamber concerts – as well as pre-concert talks and panel discussions.

Back for a 10th summer is the Spiegeltent, home to live music, cabaret, and more. The Bard Music Festival takes place during SummerScape’s two final weekends. SummerScape run from June 25-August 16.
