Poughkeepsie Man Is Charged With Second-Degree Murder

Authorities say they've charged a 55-year-old man in the slaying of a woman whose body was found at a former psychiatric center in the Hudson Valley.

State police announced Thursday that William McKinney of Poughkeepsie is charged with second-degree murder in the killing of 27-year-old Jerusha Christie, also of Poughkeepsie. Investigators revealed that Christie had been stabbed at her apartment before her body was dumped at the former Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Hyde Park. Her body was found there March 17. Police have charged 33-year-old Gerome Harris of Poughkeepsie with hindering prosecution. Investigators say he helped dispose of the body. McKinney is in the county jail without bail. It could not immediately be determined from the district attorney's office whether he has a lawyer.
