A freshman New York state senator from the Dutchess County is chair of a task force concerning Lyme disease while the Assembly has formed a group on climate change.
State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos has named Republican Sue Serino as the new chair of the Senate Task Force on Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases. The Task Force will continue the Senate’s focus on improved prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of these diseases. Serino, of Hyde Park, says her son has suffered the aggressive symptoms of Lyme and she is a lifelong resident an area hardest hit by the disease. Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie Thursday announced the formation of a Climate Change Work Group to explore policy initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat the effects of climate change. Hudson Valley Democrats Kevin Cahill and James Skoufis are among those in the new group.
