A New York congresswoman led a moment of silence on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday afternoon to honor the victims of Tuesday evening’s fatal Metro-North crash in Westchester County.

Congresswoman Nita Lowey, whose district includes the Valhalla site of the crash, led the moment of silence.

“I stand on the House floor today with my colleagues to call for a moment of silence to honor those who lost their lives in this tragic accident, offer sincere condolences to the families of the victims, pray for the full recovery of those injured, and thank our first responders for quickly arriving at the scene to help others.”

A National Transportation Safety Board investigation continues into the collision involving a Harlem line commuter train and an SUV stopped on the tracks at the Commerce Street crossing.
