A NYS Forest In Orange County Has Completed Upgrades

Courtesy of The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Tuesday announced four new outdoor access projects that are now complete and ready for the public. One is in Orange County.

The four new projects represent more than $400,000 in access upgrades and are intended to expand public recreation and boost tourism. Just north of Port Jervis along the I-84 corridor, Huckleberry Ridge State Forest and Shawangunk Ridge in Orange County saw $200,000. This funding enabled the Department of Environmental Conservation to construct four parking lots in the towns of Greenville and Deerpark. The new Greenville Turnpike parking lot provides direct access to the Shawangunk Ridge Trail, a long-distance trail running along the Shawangunk Ridge from Port Jervis to Minnewaska State Park. The three other projects are in Erie, Herkimer, and Otsego Counties.
