The Rockland County Sheriff says his office and the FBI are continuing their investigation into a threat a county legislator received in mid-December.
The threatening letter to Rockland County Legislator Aron Wieder contained a photo of an ISIS prisoner about to be beheaded with the Spring Valley Democrat’s face shown on the prisoner’s body. Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco says it’s the first time he has encountered such a threat against any elected official.
“We just received information probably about a month ago that ISIS has put out bulletins, and we’ve intercepted that stuff, that their targets are law enforcement, military, and elected officials,” says Falco. “So, am I surprised by it? No, no after receiving, intercepting that intelligence. On the same token, you never know where it’s going to happen. Today it’s here and it can be in Idaho tomorrow.”
