Westchester County is looking for community input on disaster preparedness.

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino is asking municipal officials, community leaders, and residents to participate in a project that will revise the county’s so-called Multi-Hazard Mitigation plan. He says that updating this plan is key for the county and its municipalities to be eligible for funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Hazard mitigation measures can include changes to a community’s comprehensive/master plan, which may alter zoning ordinances, building codes, and policies that guide stormwater management, wetlands preservation, erosion and sediment control. The project Web site is:  westchesterhmp.com.
