Ulster County Forum To Highlight Juvenile Justice

A former New York State judge will be the keynote speaker Friday during an Ulster County forum on how to keeps kids in school and out of the court systems.

Former Chief Judge Judith Kaye will speak at an Ulster County Leadership Forum entitled “Ending the School-to-Prison Pipeline.” Kaye is chairwoman of the New York State Permanent Judicial Commission on Justice for Children. The forum is expected to bring together dozens of school administrators, lawyers, government officials, judges, police chiefs and community advocates to explore the impact of school disciplinary policies and juvenile justice practices on at-risk youth. The Ulster County Commission on Human Rights is hosting the forum, which runs from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday in the Student Union Building at the State University of New York at New Paltz.
