Plans Unfold For Historic Poughkeepsie Mill Building

A vacant, historic building in the Hudson Valley is getting a makeover, and developers Thursday afternoon will deliver an update on the progress.

Hudson River Housing is developing the Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory on North Cherry Street as a combination of housing, hub for local foods, and community work space.  Hudson River Housing officials will deliver a status update on the economic development project along the Main Street corridor. They will present preliminary building redevelopment plans and renderings. Plans for the adaptive reuse of the Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory include private studio space for artists, other work space and traditional rental units. The property already has a natural rainwater filtration system installed in partnership with Clearwater and the Hudson River Estuary Program, and a community park and garden directly on Main Street. The building is expected to be ready for initial occupancy within a year to a year-and-a-half.
