Dutchess County Welcomes Warrior Hikers

Dutchess County/Warrior Hike 2014

Dutchess County will welcome combat veterans as they hike through the area Sunday afternoon.

The Warrior Hike “Walk Off The War” program is a six-month, 2000-plus mile journey where combat veterans hike through one of three National Scenic Trails  -  the Appalachian, Continental Divide, and Pacific Crest Trails. The aim is to transition from wartime experiences to civilian life.  Sunday afternoon at 3 in Pawling, at Native Landscapes on Route 22, the 2014 Warrior Hikers are scheduled to pass through along the Appalachian Trail. Elected officials, community members, members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, and the Daughters of the American Revolution will be on hand to welcome them.
