A community college in the Hudson Valley is getting a new president.

Dutchess Community College has named Dr. Pamela Edington the school’s fifth president following a national search that yielded more than 50 applicants. She will succeed Dr. David Conklin, who is retiring after having served DCC as president for 22 years -- the longest actively serving president in the State University of New York system. Edington, who will assume the position August 1, is provost and Dean of Academic Affairs at Norwalk Community College in Connecticut. Meanwhile, SUNY Orange President Dr. William Richards in May announced that he will retire at the end of the 2014-15 academic year. And Westchester Community College has begun a national search after its president, Dr. Joseph Hankin, last year announced his retirement.
