Grant Supports Nutrition Education And The Arts

An arts organization in Westchester County has received a grant to design nutrition education programs.

Aetna Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to ArtsWestchester to support artist residencies in four public elementary schools in the lower part of the county. The grant will underwrite arts education programs designed to teach nutrition concepts for 100 third graders in the four elementary schools this year.  School and arts administrators, teachers, professional artists, registered dieticians, and students will work to create Healthy Foods=Happy Children murals for installation in the schools and their cafeterias. The four participating schools are Holmes Elementary School in Mount Vernon; Yonkers Montessori Academy; Church Street Elementary School in White Plains; and Highview Elementary School in Greenburgh.
