A major retailer is expanding its distribution center in New York, including in a county in the Hudson Valley.
Specialty retailer Gap Inc. is expanding its distribution center in Fishkill, in Dutchess County, as well as the Gap Global Creative Center in Manhattan. The expansion will add more than 90 full-time jobs in Fishkill and more than 80 professional jobs in New York City. State and local elected officials from Dutchess County welcomed the news of jobs and the potential boost to the regional economy, Fishkill Republican Assemblyman Kieran Lalor among them.
“I think the Gap is a good example of how it can work in the distribution and warehousing industry right here in Dutchess County,” says Lalor.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says Dutchess County was chosen above other locations across the country, and that Empire State Development offered Gap $1 million in performance-based tax credits, which are tied directly to job creation and investment commitments.
