A city in Dutchess County is the recipient of a Hudson River Valley Greenway grant.

The City of Poughkeepsie was awarded a $7,500 matching Greenway Communities Grant for a City of Poughkeepsie Youth Enclave Survey Project. Poughkeepsie, in partnership with Newburgh-based nonprofit Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, plans to create a strategy that would help retain local college graduates and entice young professionals in the 18-34 age bracket to live in the city. Having five higher education institutions in the area - Vassar, Bard, and Marist Colleges; the Culinary Institute of America, and Dutchess Community College - the city wants to leverage the potential of the institutions and their graduates to help revitalize the city and region.
