An online marketplace that connects Hudson Valley farmers with buyers is expanding.
FarmersWeb is an online marketplace connecting local farms with chefs and wholesale buyers in and around New York City, Albany, and elsewhere. And now the site will be able to expand its operation through an improved platform made possible by an investment from Kingston-based Hudson River Ventures, a small business investment fund focused on the Hudson Valley. FarmersWeb Cofounder David Ross says the site will reach more farms and local buyers more quickly with the development and design upgrades to the online platform. Sean Eldridge, who is mulling a congressional run, is the founder of Hudson River Ventures.
