Land Is Conserved In Greene County

A donated easement protects 124 acres of land in Greene County.

The landowner’s donation of the conservation easement in New Baltimore is to environmental group Scenic Hudson. Known as Hidden Valley, the property contains rolling fields, forests, ravines and shoreline along more than 1.25 miles of Sickles Creek and another stream, both of which drain into Coxsackie Creek near its confluence with the Hudson River. A portion of the property is located within a state-designated Biologically Important Area that has received an A rating, meaning its habitats are considered to be of the highest ecological value. The donation is part of Poughkeepsie-based Scenic Hudson’s ongoing Saving the Land That Matters Most campaign. The property remains on the tax rolls.
