MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. (AP) — A Westchester County woman says her family is scared to go into their yard after a coyote killed one of their dogs.

Mount Kisco town and village officials Monday posted information about coyotes on their web site, advising area residents to watch their small pets and kids. They warn area residents that coyotes have been seen recently in the community. This comes after one resident says she encountered coyotes in her yard. Kristin Porteus tells The Journal News (http://lohud.us/17u3zPv ) that two coyotes went after their three dogs Friday morning in their Mount Kisco backyard. She ran at the coyotes and scared them away. Two of the dogs made it safely into the house. Her husband yelled that another coyote was behind her. It dropped the third dog, Roxy, a Chihuahua-terrier mix, out of its mouth and ran away. The dog’s neck was broken.
