New York state environmental regulators have extended the comment period for two Belleayre Mountain projects.
The New York state Department of Environmental Conservation in mid-April released the supplemental draft environmental impact statement for the Belleayre Resort at Catskill Park as well as a unit management plan and draft environmental impact statement for the Belleayre Mountain Ski Center, along with a document analyzing the cumulative impacts of both. The comment period was initially scheduled to end June 24, but has been extended to July 24. The Natural Resources Defense Council is one who had requested the extension, citing the sheer volume of the documents to be reviewed. As initially planned, there is a public hearing for May 29 at the Belleayre Mountain Ski Center. The first session begins at 3 p.m., the second at 6.
