The New York State attorney general says his office has broken up a major Oxycodone trafficking ring in New York City and the Hudson Valley.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has announced six arrests in the alleged trafficking scheme that hit pharmacies in Dutchess and Orange Counties, as well as in most of New York City. He says the ring used forged prescriptions to obtain and sell thousands of painkillers, valued in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. The alleged ringleader was indicted in Orange County Court and charged with more than 30 felony counts, including Operating as a Major Trafficker.  If convicted, he faces a sentence of 25 years to life in state prison. In addition, five of his accomplices were also arrested this week and charged with seven felony counts. If convicted, each faces up to nine years in prison.
