WHISPERING BONES: An Evening of Ghost Stories
“Creepy and chilling tales told by some of the region’s best storytellers… a great mix of classic legends, new stories and whispered folktales… spooky, eerie and fantastical” — POST STAR
Professor Betterof Underhill celebrates Halloween night with his cast of costumed storytellers in WHISPERING BONES: An Evening of Ghost Stories. The troupe tells tales both macabre and comic including Edgar Allen Poe's "The Mask of Red Death."
Storytellers include Erin Ouellette, Mary Murphy, Tony Malikowski, Kelvin Keraga, Jennifer Jasper, and Barbara Chepaitis, who will also lead a ghostly singalong number. The evening will include "The Burned House," "Silver Dollars," "The Masque of Red Death" and "Bits," as well as a few announcements by the gregariously creepy Dr. Underhill.
Haunted houses…grave robbers…mysterious graveyards! For hundreds of years storytellers have taken us by the hand and led us into old houses filled with apparitions: phantoms from the darkest core of our humanity, woven from memories, dreams and nightmares.
There is deep magic in a ghost story, a spell that brews in our wonderfully irrational passion for life. We transcend the expectations of our hearts and minds: we relish the fear, the terror, the surprise. Something is out there! Instead of turning away, we approach and even embrace our mortality: we dance in the graveyard, dress up in shadows, and sometimes even laugh in the darkness.
This Halloween Night, join us! Step with us across the line between life and death, following characters caught in situations that evoke their – and our – deepest feelings, fears, and a little manic laughter.
Come in costume… for a free gourmet treat at the dessert table!
