Musicians of Ma’alwyck Celebrates Dutch Musical Heritage with Fall Concert Series
This fall, Musicians of Ma’alwyck presents a captivating concert series dedicated to the chamber music repertory of the Netherlands. Audiences will be transported to the 17th and 18th centuries with exquisite works by Dutch composers, performed in three of the Capital Region’s beautiful historic venues.
The program highlights rarely heard gems by composers including Pieter Hellendaal, Christian Ernst Graf, and Josef Schmitt—known in his time as the “Dutch Haydn”–and works for solo instruments by Sweelinck, Van Eyck, and Hacquart. Each piece reflects the cultural vibrancy of the Netherlands, as well as the deeply rooted connections between Dutch culture and the early history of New York’s Capital Region. Performers include flutist Norman Thibodeau, violinist Ann-Marie Barker Schwartz, cellist and gambist Andre O’Neil, and guitarist Sten Isachsen.
